In this second session of the FIBS Focus on Business & Human Rights training, we will explore:
- How has the business and human rights agenda shifted; what are the global and regional trends in the wake of Covid-19?
- Which human rights and stakeholders are affected and how?
- What are proactive companies doing? How has the pandemic affected the business and human rights work internally in member companies?
Pandemic has certainly shifted the focus of many companies and changed the way we work. The next Focus group meeting will be held via zoom that enables us to share and work in breakout rooms imitating the way we would do, could we meet face to face.
We have also decided that in the upcoming human rights network session we will have a change in topic – we will discuss how the corona pandemic has affected the business and human rights work and agenda. We will explore how the pandemic is affecting the lives of workers and local communities that serve in global supply chains to multinational Western companies.
We will invite the network members to share own reflections, experiences and discuss particular topics arising. We will also connect with a human rights activist / expert on the ground, to hear directly how the pandemic is affecting the work. We will additionally invite a guest speaker from a multinational company that will offer some reflections on how to be proactive in these challenging times.

Practicalities
Members sign up for a year to attend all 4 sessions included in this Focus group. Please note that you need to register only once here to attend all sessions. The sessions are structured around three main elements: training, inspiration and sharing as well as networking opportunities. Two sessions will be organized during the spring and two in the autumn:

Speakers
Sandra Atler is a human rights lawyer and an internationally recognized expert on business and human rights. She has supported companies across the globe and across various industries to understand and manage human rights risks and also has extensive experience working as a human rights advocate in civil society. Sandra was part of Professor John Ruggie’s team in the development of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. Today Sandra is Director of the Human Rights and Business Practice Group, established by Enact in 2015.
Thomas Trier Hansen has more than 20 years of professional experience with human rights and labor related issues in the Nordics as well as internationally from working in more than 45 countries in Latin America; Africa; Europe and Asia. He has vast experience with human rights risk mapping and assessments and is regularly carrying out assignments for the EU as an expert on human rights. Thomas is also a member of the GRI stakeholder council and an expert member of the OECD National Contact Point in Denmark.
