This event is part of Business and Human Rights Group trainings and workshops, and only targeted for members of that group. The members of the group can confirm their participation by registering for the event.
The Working Group focuses on the most up-to-date developments in the area of business and human rights, as well as provides its members with practical tools and best practices to use on their own human rights journey.
In this session we will focus on remedy as part of human rights due diligence. While remedy is widely discussed, concrete action remains limited, especially when it comes to providing remediation to affected workers in supply chains. We will discuss how to approach remedy in different operating environments and how this feeds into effective due diligence. We will also explore how remedies can be implemented in practice, with a focus on outcomes to those affected.
In this session we will address
- Key concepts of remedy in international standards such as the UNGPs and what they mean in practice.
- How to engage stakeholders in the remedy process in complex supply chains and challenging operating environments?
- Approaches to provide remediation in context of workers in supply chains.
The session will include expert presentations, company case, and sharing of experiences and good practices with the participants.
Speakers

- Company case: Valmet, Reetta Loponen, VP, Sustainability
