In this training, you will gain insights about
- Bridging Strategy and Execution: How to close the gap between high-level executive goals and local capacity by decentralized ownership.
- Localized Target Setting: Refine broad corporate targets into granular, regional action plans and business cases based on specific infrastructure, business models, and material hotspots.
- Strategic Financial Prioritization: Acquire understanding of MAC Curves and Internal Carbon Pricing, while refining the ability to build robust Business Cases that secure funding for decarbonization projects.
As corporate expectations for climate action evolve, companies are shifting from basic compliance to strategic value creation. Understanding the financial aspects of climate work is essential for moving beyond ”box-ticking” to see emission reductions as a driver of long-term business success. This training focuses on the practical financial tools required to transform high-level roadmaps into actionable, bankable reduction plans.
Participants will learn how to transition from simply ”spending” on sustainability to strategically ”investing” in decarbonization. We will explore the Marginal Abatement Cost (MAC) Curve to prioritise reduction measures globally, allowing your organisation to identify ”low-hanging fruit” and allocate capital to projects where the cost per ton of CO2 reduced is lowest. By prioritising based on cost-effectiveness, you ensure the greatest possible environmental impact for every dollar of CAPEX spent.
The session covers the transition from ”paper to production” by focusing on the true material hotspots of your footprint and applying a rigorous four-step funnel: Ideation, Prioritisation, the Business Case, and Resource Unlocking. We will also demystify Internal Carbon Pricing (ICP), discussing how it can be applied to procurement and investment decisions to drive down emissions while maintaining operational simplicity.
