FIBS has signed onto the Business Call for Accountability

27 elokuuta 2025

FIBS has signed onto the Business Call for Accountability, a new unifying call from the business community that was released during the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) meetings in Bonn in June 2025.

Through this Business Call for Accountability, we have joined other business groups to encourage companies as well as trade and industry groups to improve advocacy standards and encourage greater transparency in how they engage with and advocate through the UNFCCC process.

The objective of this Call is twofold:

  • Elevate the standard of corporate and trade group advocacy in the UNFCCC process (in particular the COPs) through better public disclosure
  • Draw a distinction between leading companies looking to support the international climate policy forums like COPs and those companies looking to undermine it

This isn’t about raising the ceiling for climate leadership (thousands of companies already excel in this area), but about raising the floor to increase transparency and accountability across the board.

By signing on, we’re calling on:

  • Large multinational companies: Report annually on corporate climate advocacy, including domestic policy processes and international forum engagements. This aligns with the Global Standard on Responsible Climate Lobbying developed by CA100+ investor groups.
  • Trade groups: Annually disclose relevant climate and energy related policy positions on their website

The signatories are:
