Working poverty is a reality worldwide. It is not only about lack of income, but also about decent work, opportunities and the power to negotiate. In this workshop, we concentrate on the human rights -based approach to decent living in supply chains.
A growing number of companies are committing to work towards achieving living wages and income in their supply chains. In this interactive workshop we learn and discuss solutions and partnerships that front-running companies are utilizing to ensure wages that enable workers and families in their supply chains to meet their basic needs.
Speakers
Josetta Nousjoki works as Advocacy and Sustainability Director at Fairtrade Finland. She has long experience in advancing sustainable business practices and human rights in supply chains. Prior to Fairtrade, she managed international affairs in a trade union and worked as an investigative journalist in Asia.
Marja Aho works at Alko as Sustainability Manager. Her work includes e.g. developing the responsible sourcing model in cooperation with international and domestic stakeholders. She has extensive experience in stakeholder dialogue in an international context.
Paul Colditz works as Commercial Manager for Southern Africa at Fairtrade Africa. Paul’s responsibility is to develop and connect Fairtrade certified producers to markets that yield sustainable and decent livelihoods for farmers and workers. Before joining Fairtrade, Paul worked as a consultant and is experienced in international expansion & strategy.
Carla Romeu Dalmau is the Senior Manager of Strategy & Innovation at IDH, the Sustainable Trade Initiative, and has over 12 years’ experience working on sustainability. With the aim to address inequality and reduce poverty in global supply chains, she drives IDH agenda on Better jobs and Living wage. Carla’s work provides tools to measure the living wage gap in supply chains and defines the best strategies to improve workers’ wages and workers conditions.
