- What the lessons learned and best practices are, which can be applied amongst all types of investors and companies.
Sustainable finance is crucial in the transition to a more resilient, fair, and resource efficient society. The regulatory landscape both for sustainable finance as well as for managing social and human rights risks at the EU and global level is evolving rapidly, and it is not completely clear on how radically these changes affect companies and financial institutions. Meanwhile, there is lot we can learn from experienced impact investors, who have decades of experience in financing companies and projects with measurable environmental and social gains.
Impact investors provide a diversity of financing products for investments targeted particularly at the emerging markets of Africa and Asia. Over the years, they have also developed rigid screening, monitoring, and assessment methodologies for ensuring social, environmental, and economic sustainability, as well as for guaranteeing impacts to the local economy and society. They have also been amongst the first to realize, how environmental and social sustainability can guarantee financial sustainability.
Acting now and learning from the best practices by impact investors can give a clear competitive advantage for any organization genuinely interested in its social and environmental impact. This event can also serve as a means to prepare for and build management systems that comply with the upcoming environmental and human rights regulation.
