In 2027, our partner South Pole will support FIBS members in addressing key climate-related challenges and opportunities. South Pole’s training sessions are open to FIBS members who have subscribed to FIBS’s pro additional service and will provide practical insights, peer learning, and expert guidance on topics related to corporate climate action. We asked South Pole a few questions about the year ahead.
What exciting things are coming up next year? What can FIBS members expect from your content?
In 2027, our aim is to support FIBS members in navigating evolving climate standards and translating regulatory shifts into practical strategy across three key sessions. We want to help FIBS members turn a fast-moving rulebook into practical decisions that help the company to take a step in their climate journey.
In spring, we will host an interactive workshop exploring major updates in climate frameworks and target-setting guidelines. The session will focus on addressing core challenges raised by participants, offering a collaborative environment to work through emerging topics together.
In autumn, we are planning to host a session on climate transition planning as a driver of core business strategy. We will explore how to manage varying sectoral paces, how to secure the necessary investments for credible, long-term implementation, examining how deeper collaboration with suppliers can drive decarbonization while enhancing resilience, security, and cost efficiency.
We also hope to do a type of “Scope 3 clinic” in the autumn, discussing common GHG accounting challenges like supply chain engagement, data quality and efficient monitoring of emission reductions.
What inspires you about this upcoming work and theme?
What inspires us is helping sustainability teams achieve impact and sustainable business value. Most FIBS members already know their footprint and have set targets. The harder questions now concern how to fund the transition, how to engage suppliers, and how to stay credible as standards change. To create action, cross-organisational partnerships are needed together with finance, procurement and leadership, because that is where the transition succeeds or stalls. Building these new structures in innovative ways is what we feel is really inspiring in the year to come.
What are you particularly looking forward to in next year’s partnership with FIBS?
We are mostly looking forward to learning alongside members through collaborative sessions focused on real-world challenges. We are also keen to welcome new faces from procurement, finance, and business development to foster cross-functional climate action across the FIBS network.
